About the Faculty...

The 3rd National Conference on Research in Developmental Education is being held October 24 - 27, 2001 at the OMNI Charlotte Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The purpose of this conference is to apply current research findings to solving problems and improving practice in developmental education and learning assistance.  The conference places particular emphasis on theories, models, and techniques designed to improve the success of under prepared students in postsecondary education.  The conference features more than 80 research-based presentation on student assessment and placement, advising techniques, instructional strategies, tutoring, classroom assessment, program evaluation, and technology in developmental education.  It also features the most recent findings from the major national studies conducted by the League for Innovation, the National Center for Education Statistics, and the National Study of Developmental Education.

Linda O'Neal, Ed.D., was nominated for the 100 Scholars Research Award.  The purpose of this award is to recognize a faculty member's record of sustained research/creative activity which has made, and continues to make, a significant contribution to his/her field; to support an on-going project or new direction.  The award is given in the amount of $1200 for travel, purchase of equipment, supplies or other costs associated with research/creative activity.
