Text Box:                                               Bonnie Riddle   Kindergarten Journal Invitation:   Read Diary of a Worm by Doreen Cronin pointing out to the children how the worm writes about things happening in his life, his thoughts and ideas.   Share the invitation with the children, use echo reading.   Read a short entry from my journal and model writing an entry on chart paper.  Have children talk to a partner about an idea they could write about.   Give each child their notebook.  Help them find the first page and ask them to begin drawing or writing.  Walk around as the children work, encouraging and complimenting those who want to share.
