You are invited to create a blog for this class—it should be focused on the language arts. You will go to http://wordpress.com/to create your blog. Please see directions for creating your blog and writing posts on our class blog. Our class blog is http://re4030.wordpress.com/
As you participate in a variety of readings, experiences, and activities, you will reflect on these through your blog. This BLOG will provide an opportunity for us to respond to the readings and engage in dialogue outside of class. Because we meet so few times, we are limited to what we are able to discuss in class. You will be required to post twice, most weeks. The postings each week will be a response to the readings, internship experiences, an ongoing discussion continued from class, or one of the assignments listed on your syllabus.
In order to receive full credit, your responses must be posted before our class meetings. The idea is to engage in a dialogue. We cannot do this if people are posting last minute!!! Your response must also demonstrate in-depth, critical thought, be well-organized, and demonstrate considerable effort in order to receive full credit. Also, please use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation as you blog. This is not instant messaging.
Your blog should include the following:
- Title
- About Me Page (See my example)
- (Blogroll) Links to 5 sites from each of the following:
- classmates' blogs that are part of your writing circle
- sites devoted to sevral of the following: the language arts and writing in general, poetry, journal/notebook writing, children's literature
4. Your published works (Me Map, Poetry, Pirate Unit). For each of your assignments, you will create a page, not a post. For example, you will create a page titled "Me Map." You will provide the context for the assignment and how you plan to use the Me Map in your internship or future classroom. Then you will upload the Me Map assignment files to this page.
5. Carefully crafted responses to the weekly readings and class discussions.
In addition, you are expected to comment on the blogs of your classmates (writing circle) and our class blog.
Be sure to use the information on our class web page to help you locate your favorite sites.
Remember, you will be writing for a wide audience, so think carefully about your blog.
