Discussion Director

Your job is to write five questions and answers from the assigned reading.  You will help the students in your group go back to the book for their answers if they don’t know them.  So, to help this run very smoothly, you need to write down the questions, your answers to your questions, and the page numbers where the students can reference the text to justify their responses to your questions.

Character Sketcher

Your job is to complete a Character Sketcher for Caroline in Section Five.

Passage Picker

Your job is to choose three passages from the assigned reading.  Your passages should include 3 of the following types of passages:

Fact/Opinion, Descriptive, Problem/Solution, Informative.

Your job is to complete Word Wizard for the following 3 words:

Summarizer

Your job is to report to the circle what has happened in this section, and what the major issues are. 

 Investigator

Your job is to get more information on Mary Ann Shadd.  There are several places that you can look for this information: library, magazines, encyclopedia, books, or the computer.  Use all of the resources that you can think of to find more information.

Illustrator

Your job is to draw some kind of picture related to the reading of section five.  It can be a sketch, cartoon, diagram, or stick-figure scene.  With the picture should be included a paragraph explaining:  who or what the picture is about, where the picture takes place, when it is happening, and why you drew the picture.
